Artist Biography

Michele Simpson

Michele Simpson (b. 1961, Wellington, NSW) is an Australian contemporary landscape painter based in Dubbo, New South Wales. Born into a farming family, she developed a deep appreciation for the land and a lifelong love of the natural environment. Having recently stepped back from her family’s farming business, Simpson has embraced the opportunity to rekindle her creative side.

A self-taught artist who has also undertaken study at TAFE, Simpson draws inspiration from her travels across Australia and her connection to its diverse environments. Working primarily in acrylics with textured surfaces, her paintings are often taken from her own photographs and personal interpretations, capturing Australian landscapes as seen from the land, sea, and air. Her use of intense colours conveys the vibrancy, drama, and emotional resonance of the natural world.
